Fee and Deposit Information
A membership fee and a connect fee is required from all applicants. A deposit is required on every account unless you pass our credit check or have already established an excellent payment history with Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative. If you choose to bypass the credit check, have an unsatisfactory payment history with Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative, or if you fail to pass the credit check, a deposit will be required up front. Once your account is officially created in our system, you will receive an email with information on your new account, including deposit amount or a member services representative will contact you concerning your deposit (if applicable).

The undersigned (hereinafter called the "Applicant") hereby applies for membership in, and agrees to purchase electric energy from Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative, Inc. (hereinafter called the "Cooperative"), upon the following terms and conditions.  Checking this box confirms that I have read and understand the Bylaws of Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative. By submitting this application, Applicant also agrees to a credit check.

1. The Applicant will pay to the Cooperative the sum of $5.00 which, if this application is accepted by the Cooperative, will constitute as the Applicant's membership fee.

2. The Applicant will, when electric energy becomes available, purchase from the Cooperative all electric energy used on the premises described below and will pay therefore monthly at rates to be determined from time to time in accordance with the by-laws Cooperative. The applicant will pay a minimum bill each month regardless of the number of kilowatt hours consumed.

3. The Applicant will comply with and be bound by the provisions of the charter and by-laws of the Cooperative, and such rules and regulations and rates, as may from time to time be adopted by the Board of Directors of the Cooperative.

4. The Applicant, by paying a membership fee and becoming a member, assumes no personal liability or responsibility for any debts or liabilities of the Cooperative and it is expressly understood that under the law his private property is exempt from execution for any such debts or liabilities.

5. The Applicant grants the Cooperative the right of way to serve the premises. This right of way allows the Cooperative to construct, operate and maintain an electric or distribution line or system, and to cut and trim trees and shrubbery to the extent necessary to keep them clear of said electric line or system and to cut down from time to time dead, weak, leaning, or dangerous trees that are tall enough to strike the wires in falling.

The acceptance of this application by the Cooperative shall constitute an agreement between the Applicant and the Cooperative, and the contract for electric service shall continue in force from one year from the date service is made available by the Cooperative to the Applicant.
